Teacher Cat

From Wales, Catherine is starting her 4th year at Samui Centre of Learning International School. Having previously worked at SCL between 2011-2013, followed by two-years in France working in a bilingual school she returns this year as the Year 2 Class Teacher and Head of Primary. Catherine has a LLB Law and French degree, PGCE Primary and a Postgraduate Diploma in Special Eductational Needs.

“After working in France I was very happy to return to work at SCL, this is a happy and unique school where children learn in a nurturing, caring and stimulating environment. Having worked previously with some of the children, it was pleasure to see how much they have developed over the years and their success makes my job a rewarding one. Working with creative, dedicated and lovely staff makes coming to work a pleasure.
I am really proud to have been given the opportunity this year to be Head of Primary, in a school which I have always felt is very special.”

I am very excited to be the new Year 3 teacher at SCL. I have been on this beautiful island of Koh Samui now for five weeks and already it feels like home. The children and staff at SCL have made me feel very welcome and a part of their team. I have a strong passion for making learning real and unforgettable, so I can not wait to get started!

I am looking forward to the new school year and what lies ahead.

Teacher Eilidh – Year 4

Teacher Aylee

Eilidh has TEFL and a Bachelor of Arts degree. She will be teaching phonics, literacy and theme in Year 3. She is an extremely valued member of the SCL team.

“I have been teaching at SCL for 8 years now. I am looking forward to teaching Year 3 and have many great ideas in mind of which I am enjoying implementing in the classroom. I believe improving literacy, in particular reading, at this early age is vital in raising the standard of literacy in our students, building a strong foundation for the years to come. I have a long term commitment to SCL which I believe benefits the students as I am a familiar face and they feel comfortable to take risks in their learning and strive to improve.”

Teacher Roz – Year 5

Before joining the SCL team on Koh Samui, I taught primary aged children (predominantly years 4-5) in the South of England for several years. Here I worked with a wider range of children including those with behavioral and learning disabilities. This year will be my second year at SCL International! My favourite subjects to teacher as English, maths and science!

Prior to becoming a teacher, I completed a degree in Media and Marketing at Westminster University and worked in children’s marketing in London for many years. After managing lots of multi media projects aimed at children and parents, I decided to leave the world of marketing and re-train as a teacher. Here, I completed a post graduate degree in Education (PGCE). Over the next few years, I hope to add to my qualifications by completing a Masters in Education.
